This is our story. Its the love of a Father, promised to Abraham. This love is shown through His Son as He died upon a rugged cross. That love is revealed to us by the Spirit, so that we can truly pursue God. It is a story that began before the beginning of time and it is a story that has altered human history. It is a story that we are invited into, to claim onto, and to share with everybody.
But how do you live this story out every day? Is it something that affects your the way you live your life? I hope so. It is the way it was designed to be told. It is a cosmic love story that is to be told as a call and response. God calls, we respond. God came, we pursue. So the question is, how do you pursue God in response to the story?
If you are truly engulfed in this salvation story, it then changes the very fiber of who you are, what you desire, and how you act. You are no longer yourself but version of you that you were intended to be. Your desires are no longer so selfish but are desires of a humble carpenter. And how you act becomes a humility play the way that led to God becoming a human to save humanity.
How do you respond to this story if you indeed have become apart of it. The story begs your response. It is your pursuit…
“At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.- Titus 3:3-8
