Infact,whatIneedis ruach.

Ruach in Hebrew literally means breath, air, and wind. I could use a little bit of all of that. It carries the connotation of freshness or newness. To me, wind, air and breath conjure up wonderful images of just getting outside and taking in life. Ever wander outside on a cool windy day? Isn’t it lovely? Like Father, Like Son

As I grow older, I notice more and more that I’m becoming like my father. From yelling at the TV while watching the New Orleans Saints play football, to telling the same corny jokes he does… it’s like I’m a carbon copy (do people even get this reference anymore?) of my father. I guess that’s why I was named David Alan Dorn II, after my father!

But I am enjoying becoming like my dad. It means I’m becoming a good man and even more, a good father. My father is the most selfless man I’ve ever known. He wakes up at 4:00 am and goes to work, comes home, helps my mom around the house, takes care of the yard work, goes to either Boy Scout meetings with my brother, choir practice with my mother, or church meetings virtually 5 nights a week, and then goes to bed to start over the next day. And he often gives up his little spare time to help other family members who are in need of his help. Religion or Relationship?

The internet has been a buzz with this debate… is it religion or relationship? After garnering 50,000+ views on my video responding to Jefferson Bethke’s “Why I Hate Religion but Love Jesus” video, I was shocked by the push back from viewers who were fiercely determined that Christianity was solely a relationship.

I disagree…. But give me a chance to explain why.

Responding to “Why I hate Religion, but Love Jesus

Something did not sit well with me upon watching this incredibly well done viral video. Now many more brilliant people than I have critiqued the poor theology that is found in this video that millions are accepting as truth. I don’t want to rehash the same.
